What is a spam score?

A spam score is a 0 to 100 estimate of how likely a page or domain is to be low quality. It is calculated from page and domain traits such as missing contact details, an insecure connection, unusual domain names, and very high numbers of outgoing links. The score you see here is the average spam score of the pages that link to your domain.

How to read your score

We list a linking domain as spammy when its link scores 31 or higher, the start of the medium band.

What is disavowing?

A disavow file asks Google to ignore specific links or whole domains when it assesses your site. You upload it in Google Search Console. Google says most sites never need one, and that it is meant for cases where you have many spammy, artificial or low quality links pointing to your site, especially if you have a manual action.

Use it with care

A spam score is a statistical signal, not proof that a link hurts you. Some useful links score high and some poor links score low. Open the linking pages, keep links you trust, and only disavow what you are sure about. Disavowing good links can remove value you already have.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Spam Score Checker free?

Yes. You can run free checks without logging in. Rank Authority plans start at $99 per month with a 10-day free trial if you want ongoing backlink monitoring.

Does a high spam score mean Google has penalized me?

No. The score is an estimate built from page traits. It does not read your Google data. Check Search Console for manual actions.

Which links are shown in the table?

One link per linking domain, for domains whose link scores 31 or higher, sorted from the highest score. Up to 100 domains are shown per check.

How do I use the disavow file?

Review the rows, untick anything you want to keep, download the file, and upload it with the Google Search Console disavow links tool for your property.

Should I disavow by domain or by URL?

A domain line ignores every link from that domain and is the usual choice for clearly spammy sites. URL lines ignore only the exact linking pages, which is safer when the rest of the domain is fine.
